Freshwater

From various freshwater molluscs, cultivated in large quantities in China inserting not a nucleus but fragments of tissue from another oyster. Production can have very variable sizes and shapes, from 1 to 20 millimetres. In recent years, some varieties are also grown in fresh water with the inclusion of a core, rather than fragments of tissue: pearl size varies from 10 to 16 millimetres.
